Our History and Values
On April 16th, 2017, DeKalb Wesleyan and Vida Nueva Wesleyan Church merged to form Real Connection Church. DeKalb Wesleyan Church was of predominantly White-European descent (Founded in 1968). Vida Nueva Wesleyan Church (VNWC) was predominantly Latino (Founded in 1999).With the two churches now combined, we offer an English Service at 10AM and a Spanish Service at 1PM for the community. Here at Real Connection Church, we value Faith and Community. We seek to keep these values at the heart of everything we do, as we reach inward to build our own faith and outward to spread God’s Kingdom.
What We Strive For and Our Mission
The goal of merging DeKalb Wesleyan Church and Vida Nueva Church is to provide a multiethnic, multicultural, multigenerational, and multilingual church. The Bible verses Ephesians 2:14 and Revelation 7:9 inspire the mission of Real Connection Church motto “Reaching Beyond Borders for Christ”. We are the hands, feet, and voice of Jesus by reaching beyond borders for Him in DeKalb County and the World for the glory of God.
What We Believe and Our Vision
Wesleyans believe in one God, who is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, the Savior of all persons who put their faith in Him alone for eternal life. We believe those who receive new life in Christ are called to be holy in character and conduct, and can only live this way by being filled with the Lord’s Spirit. The vision of Real Connection Church is to connect people with God and one another through Jesus’ life, death and resurrection (John 15:5; Ephesians 2:14).
